It was problem-solving skills to the rescue today as little fingers really started working hard as our children investigated how to free the spiders from their webs as they were all well and truly stuck!
They stretched the webs, they used their fingers to manipulate them in different ways as well as drawing upon the assistance of a variety of tweezers too…
It was tricky, but our children persevered as they completed their mission to free the spooky spiders!!!
Lots of lovely vocabulary and conversation emerged too as they commentated upon their actions. We heard, ‘Oooooooooooh they’re stuck!’ quite a lot, but our children were definitely all determined!!! Xxxx
An exciting bundle of pinkness is waiting for our children ready for Friday when we have our ‘Wear it Pink Day’… We hope they will join in the fun by wearing something pink and popping some pennies in the box in the entrance hall…. Xxxx
Outdoor play is such an important part of our day here at Jollies and we like to make the most of our very large, and very exciting, environment…whatever the weather!!
From knights fighting dragons between forts and castles, role-playing and dining in style in our mini kitchen, sitting and sharing a story with a puppet and a friend, to playing in the sandpit under our canopy!
In the soft area we also have cars and ramps a plenty, a climbing frame and slide to challenge our skills, water trays to splash around in, fences to make marks upon and super hero capes to don! Not to mention all manner of cars, bikes, scooters and trikes to zoom around on and if there’s ever an obstacle course to tackle or a race to be run there are even medals and trophies to celebrate our achievements together!
In our garden we have a huge decked area to climb and slide and relax on, our ‘all year round’ grass houses construction sets, crates, wheels, slides, spinners to mention but a few things.
In our barked area there’s a stage to perform on, fairy gardens to imagine with, dinosaurs to STOMP and logs and tyres to challenge our balancing and climbing skills.
Then we have a mud kitchen to create feasts in, a building site to transport stones around and measure, weigh and construct with and a HUGE sandpit where we can imagine we are at the beach and did we mention we have a ‘smelly garden’ too with plants to pick to feed to the dinosaurs and also to enhance our potions and concoctions within the mud kitchen?!?!
Gosh, we’re exhausted just describing it all, but our children are always soooooo very excited when they play out there daily as these carefully planned learning environments fire their imaginations as they play happily and explore together in the great outdoors!! Xxxx
It is soooooo very lovely to see our Jolly newbies loving life here at nursery and to see the strong bonds they have already built with their extra special grownups. Each room is like its own little family within our Jolly Family and it makes our hearts smile when little ones literally launch themselves at us for a snuggle and then spot the camera and decide to strike a pose!!!
Strong-bonding ways and happy selfie-taking days spent loving life here at Jollies xxxx
In Terrific Twos today how will our children play?
Will they experiment with conker rolling or filling, tipping and pouring? Will they snuggle and share stories with a Gruffalo (or two!!)? Will they build a road and transport their vehicles all around their town? Will they admire themselves after dressing up in hats and bangles galore? Or will they have a ROARSOME time counting and stomping and role-playing with the dinosaurs?
Invitations to play are just the exciting Jolly way and we can’t wait to see where our children’s learning will take them to today… xxxx
It’s not just our huge nursery window that has turned autumnal…
Jessica created an autumnal invitation to play within the room for her children.
There were so many exciting opportunities to explore as our children learn together through their play; from loose parts creative play, to imaginative role-playing with the characters, to counting and sorting, to exploring and finding out even more about this exciting time of year through a variety of stories
Autumn leaves come falling down; red, orange, yellow, brown…. Swirling, twirling, twisting falling, there’s a chill in the air as autumn is calling!! Xxxx
…reading all these new books in our Jolly lending library each week!!!
Lots of lovely new books (and a woolly!!!!) added to our Jolly Lending Library for you all to enjoy…….. Will a space story float your boat? Will a bunny tale bounce into your house? Will Paddington come to stay? Will you find out what the ladybird heard, or will they just be very bad tempered?! Whatever you choose we wish you all very ‘Happy Reading’!! xxxx
Our all year round tree is now a vision in pink in preparation for our ‘Wear it Pink’ day (a week on Friday!) to raise awareness and pennies for Breast Cancer Now
We hope you’ll all check your boobies, but also that your little ones will join Team Jollies in all the pink fun!! If they’d like to wear pink any day that week they are very welcome to, as we don’t want anyone to miss out if Friday isn’t their usual Jolly day.
There will be a box to pop in any donations that you would like to make throughout the week.
We hope we can raise both money and awareness for this cause which is very close to our hearts
Kirstan spent yesterday morning being chief mechanic putting together and checking over our new vehicles that had been delivered to nursery in HUGE boxes at the start of the week…
It was then over to our children to put them to the test. They loved scootering and balancing as they rode along and there was great teamwork and sharing as they put all the new wheels through their paces!!
Scootering days and free-wheeling ways spent riding around together here at Jollies xxxx
